He was my first love…

I wanted him to follow his dreams. I wanted him to escape the life he hated. I thought I was doing the right thing by not telling him how I truly felt. Until it was too late, and my silence turned into my biggest regret.

Twelve years ago, Shane Owings died, taking my heart with him. I was left devastated and broken hearted. Time didn’t heal, as the years went on I only missed him more.

She was my best friend… the only woman I ever loved.

When I ran off to join the Army, I left behind everything I had ever loved. I thought I was doing the right thing, but my good intentions quickly turned into my biggest regret.

Every year on the anniversary of Shane’s death I watched as Lillian Nelson visited Shane’s grave and spilled her secrets to a dead man. Each year I hoped she wouldn’t be back, that her heart would finally heal and she would move on. But year after year she was back. So many times I wanted to reach out and comfort the beautiful woman, but I knew she would never forgive me. It was my fault Shane was dead.

Until… A terrorist shows up looking for revenge.
I had to come out of the shadows and protect the one woman I had no business falling in love with.
FREEING JASPER
The moment Jasper heard Emily Jenkins’ sultry voice he was transfixed.

An instant and heated reaction that wound its way through his soul and warmed his skin. The inexplicable connection was broken as fast as it began. Emily has a son. Jasper doesn’t “do” kids.

When her life spirals out of control, will Jasper be able to let go of his tragic past and save Emily and her son? Or has the Special Forces Soldier found his weakness – a history he cannot let go of?

Emily Jenkins lost her husband on the battlefield and was left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart while finding a way to raise her son alone.

Jasper Walker is known for being the playboy of his team. Professionally, he is a tier one assassin – a trained killer. Personally, he blows through women giving them no more than a week in his bed as he privately struggles to move on from the woman that is forever lost to him.

When their lives collide, Jasper finds out he’s not the only one with secrets. There is more to the black-haired beauty Emily than a widowed single mother.

Blake Porter was one of the lucky ones.
She’d met the man she was going to marry while she was in high school. She thought she was living a fairytale; the nerdy wannabe journalist dating the gorgeous star quarterback. One wrong move proved to irrevocably alter the course of their lives.

Betrayed by the girl he loved, Levi McCoy left for the Army and never looked back. Blake’s deception pierced his soul and shattered his heart. He used the pain to his advantage and became cold and calculating – the perfect Black Ops soldier.

Over a decade later, the 707 has been called in to rescue a reporter embedded in a deadly terrorist cell, and Levi’s shocked to learn it’s the one woman who’d once owned his heart. But Blake is no longer the naive teenager she’d once pretended to be. She’s something far more dangerous.

With bombs exploding, blood being spilled, and the terrorists closing in, they both battle the memories of their beautiful beginnings and shared history. Levi and Blake face off in a showdown of wills. In one corner, Levi is determined not to fall for the woman he’s never stopped loving. In the other, Blake tries to hold on to her self-respect and not beg Levi to hear the truth.

When the lies and deception are revealed will they survive with their hearts and lives intact?

FREEDOM – CLARK
She’s the game changer he wishes he’d never met.

Nolan Clark is the last man standing. While he is happy his teammates have found love, he’s even happier to be single. But fate is a funny thing. When a one-night stand turns into a friends with benefits agreement, he starts to question why he’s holding the beautiful Reagan at arm’s length.

He knows she’s dangerous and should end their arrangement but the sex is too good and she is too… much.

He’s the regret of a lifetime!

Nolan Clark should’ve been off-limits. He’s my closest friend’s teammate and a man that I’m not prepared for. I lied and told him I understood he’d never offer me a white picket fence and jumped straight into bed when he offered me the only thing he could sex.

With every smile, every touch, and every sizzling kiss I fall deeper in love. When the day comes for me to move five-hundred miles away to start a new job, he doesn’t stop me. Days pass, then weeks, and Nolan Clark does exactly what he said he was going to do – loses my number.

With Reagan gone to start her new life in Florida, Clark is left in Georgia at war with his heart. The timing couldn’t be worse. The past he thought he’d let go of, the ex-wife he’d thought he forgave crashes into his life brings with her an eleven-year-old boy he never knew existed.

When Reagan stumbles onto some information she shouldn’t, and her life is threatened, will Clark, and the 707 get there in time to save her? Or will she die alone and broken-hearted in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico?

Kate just nodded slowly and picked up her phone.  She sent Derrick a text message, not saying anything specific except that she needed him there now.  She just didn’t know what else to tell him over text message and she wasn’t sure she could put a string of words together to talk over the phone.  The joy she had felt all day had come to a crashing halt and everything had taken two steps backwards.
Plus the truth was that she did need him.  She needed him right this moment, his arms wrapped around her to hold her up, his breath against her neck reminding her that she was alive, his eyes piercing through her in a way that always made her brain completely shut down.  She needed to shut down in that way that only he was capable of bringing out in her.  She wanted him to be there right now and her anxiety began to raise as she realized how badly every second without him felt to her.
Detective Snow was on her phone calling her partner and forensic techs to come sweep the apartment.  Kate went to her bedroom to put on a sweatshirt and some socks, since she was only wearing a tank top and pajama bottoms at that point.  She then went back to the kitchen where Detective Snow was writing in a notepad.  She sat down next to her and began sipping the tea that had been made for her, but she wasn’t even tasting it.
Finally there was a knock at the door and Kate jumped up out of her chair.  She wasn’t sure how much time had gone by since she had sat down at the table, she felt quite out of it.  All she knew is that Derrick was at the door and she couldn’t handle another moment not having his broad, thick arms clenched around her shoulders and pressing her tightly against his chest.  She rushed to the door, flying right past Detective Snow, and swung open the front door.
“Good evening, Kate.”  It was Detective McCraig with several crime scene technicians behind him wearing matching windbreakers and carrying cases and boxes of supplies.  Kate felt her entire face fall and practically hit the floor, she couldn’t possibly have looked more disappointed to see him.  McCraig wrinkled his eyebrows at her furtively, wondering why she looked so startled to see him.
She didn’t say hello back but instead just stepped to the side and motioned everyone into her apartment.  She grabbed her jacket hanging near the door and pulled it on and stepped into some tennis shoes, getting ready to leave.  She didn’t want to be here while they were making her apartment look like a crime scene again.  She just stood there, dejectedly, and waited for the last person to walk in the door so that she could leave.
“Kate?”  Someone called her and she looked up to see the last crime scene technician walk past her, but behind him was a friendly face.  Derrick stood in the doorway, almost blocking the entire entrance with his large, muscular frame.
“You beckoned, beautiful?”  He grinned at her, knowing that she needed a hint of normalcy right now.  Kate burst into a smile and rushed to him, throwing her arms around his neck and burying her face into his smooth, soft skin.  He caught her with his arms around her waist and on her back, her feet dangling off the ground as he supported her.
“Take me away from here.” Kate whispered to him.
“You’re with me now and everything else doesn’t matter.  Just you and me.  This is all that matters.  Let’s forget about everything else for tonight?” Derrick touched her chin, gently pulling her to face him.  She nodded in agreement, eager to have him take over and just care for her.  She was too worn out to keep pretending everything was fine.  Everything was not fine. There was a psychotic killer hunting her.  That’s really the very definition of not fine.
Seeing Derrick here pushed all of those thoughts away.  The way he expanded to take over the room and envelope her in his arms was mesmerizing.  She glanced up at him, her arms still wrapped around his waist and he head leaning against his shoulder.  His lips were only inches from hers.  Her eyes were searching his, looking for any signs of doubt, any signs that he might betray her again.  She wanted to push that fear away, she couldn’t keep holding onto this much fear.  She loved Derrick and she knew he wasn’t the same man he had been before.
“And I’m never going to leave you again.” He whispered, reading the fear in her gaze and stifling it immediately.  He wished he had never made the mistake to abandon her in her time of need and he knew he would happily spend every day for the rest of his life reassuring her that he would never be that man again.
The corners of her mouth lifted into a smile and she looked down at his lips and then back up at his deep, gentle eyes.  He wasn’t going to deny her another moment and so he leaned down and kissed her gently.  He squeezed her tighter against him as he did and then he smiled at her in the midst of their kiss and lowered her back down so her feet were on the ground.  With one quick motion, he reached down and one of his arms swept up behind her knees lifting her straight up into his arms.  She squeaked in surprise but didn’t try to fight him.
“Let’s go home.”  Derrick said to her, as he carried her down the hallway and she curled up in his large arms.

Vicky’s Review of Dark Summer by Lizzy Ford

lizzy ford witchlings2

About the Book

A school for Witchlings…

The ultimate choice between Light and Dark…

Where the price of a mistake…is your soul.

Sixteen-year-old Summer doesn’t expect her new boarding school to be any different than the rest: a temporary stay, until her uncontrollable magic gets her thrown out again. In her mind, there’s no point in getting too friendly with anyone. That is, until she notices Decker, the boy who will become the Master of Night and Fire on his eighteenth birthday.

When she learns that this special school has attracted others with magic in their blood, she is hopeful that this time around, things may be different. Besides, she can’t deny her interest in Decker, and when he rescues her one night from the dark forests of the Rocky Mountains, their connection is instant.

Yet a relationship with Decker may prove to be Summer’s downfall, forcing her to choose between Light and Dark, life and death, love – and their souls.

One choice. One soul. One price.

My Thoughts

What can I say.. I absolutely loved this book.

Do you believe in having a soul-mate?

The one person in this world, that completes you.

Summer was orphaned at a very young age. She was always having problems fitting in at her schools because she was “different”.  When circumstance brings her to a school for kids like her, she still struggles to fit in but succeeds in making some new friends. When things go bad she has to make decisions.. Is she strong enough to find the light?

Or will she falter and fall to the dark?

There are rules. For both light and dark.

Those who break those rules are forced to reckon with the Masters for both sides. They just happen to be really handsome TWINS. When summer meets Decker the boy who is to become Master of the fire and night on his 18th birthday, she thinks maybe she has finally found her place in this world. And as it sometimes happens fate steps in the way.

I could not put this book down, I love Lizzy’s writing style. She never disappoints me. This was the first witch book I have read that had this take on things. I really enjoyed the characters and their interactions with one another.  There is a definite cliffhanger at the end, but this is book one in a series. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series  Autumn Storm.

Vicky’s Review of Exiled by Lizzy Ford and Julia Crane

Exiled Lizzy Ford

About the Story

Exiled on the unfamiliar planet of Earth, Tyana must learn to blend in with normal Earthlings and bide her time until she finds a way back to Lemuria and her sister Cyena.

She can’t escape the instinct that something is off about the elite Lemurrian colony where she and the others refugees are hiding. She learns more of the prophecy from elite elders but begins to suspect she can’t trust those who are claiming to be her allies – especially after she discovers that they know how to get back to Lemuria but won’t let her go.

To make matters worse, she’s drawn to an Earthling named Collin, a man who makes her heart race with every look. Still reeling over the loss of Ryker, she can’t explain why she’s compelled to Collin and struggles to reconcile his death and her attraction to Collin with her guilt.

Rebellion members from Lemuria soon track down the colony of elite hiding out on Earth with orders to kill any survivors. If they succeed in reaching the elders, any chance Tyana has of returning to Lemuria will be destroyed.
With little time and the danger around her growing, Tyana must stay alive long enough to unravel the elders’ secrets and find her way home.

My Thought’s

Well what can I say..

I AM LOVING This Series.. These two coming together for this series was the best IDEA EVER.

In this installment we get to see how Tyana is doing after being unsure what exactly happened to her.  Missing her sister and not knowing if she is dead or alive she continues to try and reach some type of contact to those she left behind. Being stranded on earth and new news she begins to be unsure of who to trust. Can she trust those that she had all her life, or is there anyone she can turn to for help? I was glad to get to know more about some of what is going on with the rebellion and I really hope there are more to the series, as I was left with a pretty big cliff-hanger at the end..  I need to know what happens NEXT!!

Vicky’s Review of Trailer Park Princess by Delia Steele

tppdeliacover

About the Book:

Rory used to count down the days until she could leave, but now with a younger brother in tow, it would be hard. She could never leave him. Rory is trapped in the Trailer Park like a princess in her tower, with her mother playing the big bad, drunken, fire-breathing dragon. The dream of her knight coming to save her faded away about the same time her goals changed. Feeling useless, and angry Rory starts her new school and gets trampled by none other than the Monroe Falls Golden Boy, Tobias  West. She finds herself seeing him as the knight she dreamed of; though, she believes it to be just that, a dream. Tobias  (Toby) is Mr. Popular/ Mr. Perfect/ Mr. Money-in-the-bank. He is too high on the social ladder to step down to her level. Or is he? Toby is smitten with Rory. Toby’s ex, Ashley, refuses to lose out to trailer park trash, and Rory finds herself the fuel to Ashley’s new-found  hate. On top of Monroe Falls High School drama, Rory still has to deal with her drunken mother and needy brother. She doesn’t  have time for childish games. Reality hits Rory hard when her mother brings home a ticking time bomb for a bed mate and the need for that shiny knight becomes real. Rome appears like she conjured him out of thin air with magical powers, and instantly becomes her best friend. He seems to always be around when she needs someone to talk to and seems to always know just how to fix it. (Did I mention he is drop dead beautiful?) Two knights in shining armor? Nope!! That doesn’t happen. Not in fairy tales, and definitely not in real life. Rory finds herself realizing there is a thin line between relationships and friendships, lines that are starting to blur. With Toby getting ready to leave for college, Ashley’s nonstop meanness, and Rome showing up, can Rory handle the pressure? Her old friend reality takes another whack at her, causing her dread and despair to take over. Rory is questioning herself, and it’s wreaking havoc on the strong girl she’s always considered herself to be. Have her poor choices doomed her to life in the trailer park, or will she be able to exceed even her own expectations? Will she ever realize she is truly a princess worthy of getting her prince? Or will she simply survive? How does Rory’s story end?

Amandolette tease

My thoughts:

* I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*

5*****

What does happily ever after mean to you?

To Aurora (Rory) it means getting out of the trailer park,  getting away from her alcoholic mother , who doesn’t seem to care what happens to her kids as long as she can have her fun. And being taken away by her Prince “Charming”.. In this case she finds that in Toby..  He is the “Golden Boy” of the town and means everything to her. But due to circumstance she meets what? Another Knight in shining armor?? Rome is a neighbor that shows up when help is needed he is a good guy with a good heart, and not to mention he seems pretty smexy as well..  We also got to meet Rory’s best friend and partner in crime Amandolette “Mando” Ruiz and OMG I loved her personality and she definitely had me laughing out loud through-out the book.. But this is not a comedy, it touches some on some very SERIOUS issues. That being said I think Delia did a good job with the character’s and their interactions with each other, and whether or not you have lived on “the wrong side of the tracks” the story is relate-able  to anyone really.  And we find out that sometimes that “Happy Ending” we are desperately searching for, has really been there the whole time. Rory is a strong girl that has been dealt a crappy hand in life, but she has to learn to love herself in order to let the love in she so desperately craves. The story kept me interested and once I got going I could not put it down..

All of my books have meaning, and it usually revolves around accepting people for who they are, not who you want them to be. I usually write about strong females, with a supportive Adonis on the side! If I had to pick five words to describe me, they would be in no order: honest, loud, eclectic, extreme, and obsessive. I believe we should all live like we are dying, and if we do something stupid, we should write about it!

Excerpt…

As Trevor helped Lila up the porch steps, she wrapped her arms around his neck and brushed her lips against his jaw. She hadn’t taken her hands off him since they’d left Tate’s.

“I love to feel your stubble.” She ran her fingers along his cheek. “It’s sexy.”

“Keys?” He held out his hand and waited as she dug through her bag. She had him rock hard and ready to go. The fact that she’d rested her hand on his thigh the whole ride home hadn’t helped matters. It was the alcohol lowering her inhibitions, but that didn’t make it any easier not to respond.

“Here they are.” She dropped them into his hand. “Come inside with me.”

He opened the door and led her into the foyer. As soon as he let her go, she stumbled forward. He caught her by the waist and pulled her against him. He couldn’t take his eyes away from her lips.

“Do you want to kiss me?” Her warm breath caressed his mouth.

More than you know.

“Let me help you upstairs. I don’t want you to fall down the steps.” He scooped her up and carried her to the staircase. She was so light and dainty. She was still his perfect fit.

“You didn’t answer my question.” She placed soft, open-mouth kisses along his neck as he made his way to her old bedroom. He remembered sneaking up those steps many times, while her father slept down the hall. They still creaked, but this time he didn’t have to worry about getting caught.

“Of course I want to kiss you.” He pushed the door open with his shoulder and set her down by the bed.

She closed her eyes and leaned into him.

He swiped the hair from her face, took her chin between his fingers, and placed a chaste kiss on her lips.

She opened one eye and peered at him, waiting for more.

“That’s it?” Disappointment flooded her beautiful features.

“For tonight.” He tapped the tip of her nose with is finger. “I want you to remember when I kiss you.”

“I’ll remember.” She wrapped her arms around his neck. “You’re not easy to forget.”

He pried her arms from his body. “Believe me, I want to, but not tonight.”

“Why?”

“Because four hours ago you ran away from me,” he said. “Something made you run. Tell me why.” He may not have wanted to take advantage of her physically while she was intoxicated, but he didn’t see why he couldn’t let her drunken lips tell him what she was afraid of.

“I can’t.”

“You can’t what?” He needed to know what she thought about the two of them.

“I’m tired now.” She lifted her dress over her head and tossed it in the corner of the room. She stood before him in nothing but her white push-up bra and matching lace thong.

“Hell.” He couldn’t take his eyes off her toned, tanned body. He mindlessly licked his lips when he discovered her rose-colored nipples poking through the thin, silky material of her bra. Struggling with himself, he tried not to lower his gaze. He lost the battle as he greedily took in her scantily covered sex.

“Want to kiss me now?” She ran her fingers down her neck and over her breasts. “Want to touch me like this?” She moved her hand down her stomach and to the waistband of her panties.

He stepped closer to her and grabbed her wrist. He had to get her to stop or he’d lose all control.

“You want to do it?”
