Review of Take a Breath by Marie Austin

Take a Breath by Marie Austin Reviewed by Melissa

Does true love exist? Can two people really love one another without business getting in the way? AJ Hastings is finally living her life on her own terms. After her decision to end a pre-arranged engagement made by her father and then the untimely death of her parents, she throws herself into saving her family business and herself.

After overcoming nightmares that threaten her sanity, she meets Hunter. A man so ruggedly gorgeous that it has her questioning if they all really are the same. Still she wonders, is it too good to be true? Does she really believe in happily ever after, when all she has known of love revolves around a business transaction? With one look into his intense blue eyes, her walls slowly crumble around her. While working on healing her heart and taming this intense connection with Hunter, her nightmares return.

A feeling of déjà vu begins to plague her waking hours. Does she have enough fight left in her to find herself and become the woman Hunter needs, or will she succumb to the dreams that take her breath away in the night?

Mel’s thoughts:

This is the first in a new series written by Marie Austin. I was totally captivated by page one! It is the story of AJ, a young woman that has been through much already in her life. She is running her deceased father’s company and working hard to make it very successful. Her best friend is Nicole and she is the lighthearted, easy-going best friend. While furniture shopping they meet Hunter, the owner of the store and Nicole decides to play matchmaker. AJ is nervous but seems to want a chance with Hunter. He is very persuasive and AJ is comfortable with him on their dinner date. This story is written very well and the story unfolds easily. The author seems to hint that this story may be taking a darker turn in the future. She leaves the reader wanting more as soon as they finish this book. I, for one, look forward to seeing where this story goes next.
